Swept By Ghosts MIXTAPE
Here's our mixtape for 20 Jazz Funk Greats! Thanks for the kind words too!
LISTEN
"There are days, in that period where English Autumn greets biting Winter, when the cold, the damp, the grey and the ochre come together like a synesthesic brew that intensifies our sensations and sharpens our memories, helping them cut through the psychic barriers of the everyday, and transforming our day into a ramble down grounds in spatial-temporal flux , swept by ghosts from the past and feelings that are part history, and part dream, ours and our forebears".

'CLAPPER IS STILL' is released today!
Hurrah! Our new album 'Clapper Is Still' is released today and is widely available in shops across the land, it's on itunes etc. too! Alternatively you can buy the album on LP (inc. CD) or CD directly from our label Upset The Rhythm who are selling copies now for £10!
Here's a very thoughtful review by Rob St John for Caught By The River too.
"Clapper is Still is an ecstatic survey of England: clattering
and chopped music of concrete, crops, rosettes and rituals. There’s an
uncanny sense of tradition through this record, not necessarily in the
touchstones of Shirley and Dolly, nor in the imagined nostalgia for a
past frequently conjured by hauntological explorers of the landscape.
Instead, in a modern, lived tradition of rural rites of passage and
wide-eyed explorations of the English countryside: of ruined villages,
fallow fields, pylons and flyovers; of cobbled drum kits and photocopied
posters for gigs in village halls, an often unknowing participation in
some far-away DIY culture. The spaces Way Through map aren’t
mythologised, instead brought (back) to life with a potent sense of
implicit understanding, a raucous, intelligent picture of the English
landscape."

"Imber & Tyneham" VIDEO
The Quietus have just premiered our video for 'Imber & Tyneham', enjoy!
Imber and Tyneham are both examples of villages taken over by the MOD during WWII for the war effort. Both were never returned to the original occupants of the villages after the war and persist now as ghost villages of bombed out houses and unexploded debris. 'Imber & Tyneham' from our forthcoming album 'Clapper Is Still' (out Nov 11th) contrasts the differing fates of both places, with Tyneham becoming a weekend heritage destination amongst a still active army range, and Imber remaining a strictly out of bounds training ground for urban combat. Whilst Tyneham has decayed into a nature reserve with adequate picnic facilities and infoboards, Imber now boasts the eerie addition of a recent housing estate of obliterated concrete houses with corrugated roofs. Both were visited in a narrow window of access at the start of the new year when the firing ranges were dormant. The song's lyrics were penned onsite, alongside the collection of field recordings which informed the music and the footage of the resultant video, documenting the uneasy silence of the ruins, the portal-like nature of the destroyed buildings, the often surreal signage and the countless instances of water pouring out of the ground.
